Traditional solar regulators featuring PWM charging (pulse width modulation), operate by connecting the solar array directly to the battery bank. When the array is connected directly to the battery bank, the array output voltage is ‘pulled down’ to the battery voltage. This occurs because the batteries are a very large load for the limited current sourcing capability of a solar array.

C Series Charge/Load/Diversion

The C35 PWM Controllers can be used for PV charge control, DC load control or as a DC diversion regulator in 12 and 24 volt systems. They operate in only one mode at a time, so to provide both PV charge control and low battery
load disconnect, two controllers must be used. As a DC load controller they disconnect the load at a user settable low voltage and reconnect at the low voltage reconnect point.
